About This Place

Located just minutes from Houston’s airport at 8520 Gulf Freeway, Mannie’s Seafood stands out as an inviting gem for lovers of fresh and flavorsome seafood in a casual, welcoming setting. This beloved seafood restaurant delivers an authentic coastal experience through both its dishes and down-to-earth atmosphere, making it a perfect stop for locals and travelers alike who crave generous portions and genuine Southern Texas flavors.

Mannie’s menu is a celebration of seafood classics with a unique twist, featuring crowd favorites like the succulent Oysters on the Half Shell and the vibrant Happy Hour Shrimp Cocktail. Customers rave about the Fried Whole Tilapia, a standout dish that combines crispy, golden batter with tender, flaky fish—truly a delight for the senses. If you’re after something hearty and satisfying, the Special 2 with Fried Rice or the Seafood Platter offer a bounty of flavors featuring perfectly fried shrimp and fish, paired impeccably with savory fried rice. For those who enjoy a zesty bite, the Tostadas de Ceviche deliver fresh, tangy seafood accented by delicate citrus notes, while the Camarrones Rancheros provide a rich, spicy sauce that beautifully complements plump shrimp.

Beyond the food, Mannie’s is known for its vibrant drink offerings. The refreshing Michelada Sauce and Frozen Margaritas are perfect partners to the meal, enhancing the dining experience with their crisp, invigorating flavors. And if you prefer something lighter, the house serves up perfectly brewed coffee and unsweetened iced tea with free refills, catering to all tastes.

Stepping inside, expect a casual, laid-back atmosphere where the aroma of fresh seafood fills the air—a scent that might be a bit strong for some, but promises just how freshly the fish is prepared. The staff’s warmth and attentiveness enhance the welcoming vibe, with many customers commenting on the friendly service and willingness to accommodate special requests, like grilling the red snapper instead of frying it or customizing dishes just the way you like.

Regular patrons such as Susan Shepard praise the restaurant’s authentic taste and helpful staff, admitting that initial skepticism quickly transformed into genuine fandom after tasting the food. Maria Pressley's highlight of the #1 lunch special—a combination of fried shrimp and fresh fish with shrimp fried rice and a simple salad—captures the perfect balance of fresh, sweet seafood with comforting homestyle sides. Theodore Carbajal’s decades-long loyalty, coupled with his love for the fried whole red snapper and seafood soup, speaks volumes about the consistency and quality Mannie’s delivers. Others, like Shawn Dunn, appreciate the substantial portion sizes and flavorful, non-fishy salmon dishes, making Mannie’s a reliable choice for pescatarians and seafood enthusiasts alike. Aida L Rubino’s praise for the restaurant’s flexibility and kindness in preparing grilled dishes to suit personal preferences rounds out the picture of a place that truly values its customers.

Whether you’re craving crispy fried favorites, grilled delicacies, or refreshing cocktails, Mannie’s Seafood encapsulates the spirit of Gulf Coast seafood dining with heart and soul. Its affordable prices, generous portions, and genuine hospitality make it a must-visit spot for anyone seeking honest, satisfying seafood in Houston.

This is a casual place within 5 min of the airport. It's worth a stop. I had the #1 lunch special, which was fried shrimp, a piece of fresh fish fried, shrimp fried rice, and a simple salad. It was delicious. The fish and shrimp are lightly breaded in cornmeal. There was no question the fish and shrimp were fresh, sweet, and just lovely. The side of shrimp fried rice was simple and good, but my partner had the Special Fried Rice, and it was fantastic. I haven't had fried rice this good in a long time. I also ordered the fish and shrimp soup to go. Tasted it when we returned home, and it was good too. The servings are generous. The prices were surprisingly reasonable. You can tell they cater to the locals. If you are going or coming from the airport, it's worth a trip, even an Uber ride if you have time.

My fiancé, mom, and I came here for lunch on April 16th. It was by complete mistake, but it was very worth it. The prices here are cheap for the portions. We each got a different lunch special, and they were huge portions of fish. The salmon I ordered wasn't fishy at all. I'm usually very picky about my salmon, and this was delicious. It does smell fishy in the restaurant, but the fish doesn't taste old at all. It was definitely worth the price.

Whole fried fish, just like we get in Mexico but more expensive ($30-40)! (Be sure to order fried without batter). The micheladas are cheap and tasty too!

I have been coming here for years. The menu is pretty much the same, which is great as you know you’re gonna get what you want every time. There’s plenty of parking in the back. The staff is always friendly and ready. The food is always well seasoned. Their fried shrimp and grilled shrimp is always delicious. Everything I’ve eaten from here has always tasted just right. One place I’ve never had to send the food back. Will be back.
